Der Pekinger November 2018 stand im Zeichen der Medienarchitektur und der urbanen Medienkunst. Susa Pop (Public Art Lab) und Juan Carlos Carvajal Bermúdez (Media Architecture) im Gespräch mit Silvan Hagenbrock.

Sebastian Schlecht ist Projektmanager für “Grüne Hauptstadt Europas – Essen 2017” und sein Ansatz von „Von Grau zu Grün” beschreibt die Transformation des Ruhrgebiets. Er nahm im November 2018 mit einem STADTMACHER-Stipendium der Robert Bosch Stiftung an der China Delegation von Bundesarchitektenkammer und ICLEI teil. Im Gespräch mit Silvan Hagenbrock erzählt er von seinen Anknüpfungspunkten und Lernerfahrungen in China sowie seinen Citymaking-Aktivitäten in Deutschland.

Katja Hellkötter, Founder of CONSTELLATIONS International, the agency behind CITYMAKERS, and lead program curator, summons up the achievements of the last two years and looks at what lies ahead in the coming year for the evergrowing community of creative and innovative citymakers.

The incubator project „Future of Living“ was one of three projects that received support from the CITYMAKERS China – Germany program during its second year of funding. We want to know: What happened since then, how did the project continue? On behalf of the team, Iris Belle answered the questions.

Was ist weiter gewachsen im STADTMACHER Urban Gardening Projekt? Im September 2018 sprach Luisa Keinprecht mit zwei Initiatorinnen der Sino-German Gardening Group – WU Yimeng und Cecilia Antoni – über ihre Erfahrungen aus dem 2. Jahr des Projekts.

Three insights led to the program’s design in 2016. First, technological innovation needs to be complemented by social innovation and a more holistic view to sustainable development. Second, a large group of people who studied architecture, urbanism, and city planning between China and Germany are a potential leverage point for stronger Sino-German people-to-people relations.

With twelve selected topics, we describe the most relevant key words. Some of the topics, such as participation, the collective, memory of the city and urban metabolism, are already CITYMAKERS China – Germany feature articles, while others must still be explored.

Roman Serdar Mendle is a sustainability scientist and China expert who is the Smart Cities Program Manager at ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability. His team enables the 1,500 cities in the ICLEI network to navigate the smart cities space by applying a critical sustainability lens, creating collaboration and knowledge exchange opportunities for cities across the globe.

Cultural heritage in Wuhan is evidence of the past and a signpost to the future. It would be horrible to live in a city with no trace of the past, said YANG Fan, Founder of China Endangered Culture Protectors and Wuhan Heritage Walks.
