Dialogue & Research Days
Dialogue & Research Days (Dialog & Forschungstage) war ein experimentelles, forschungsbasiertes Projekt des multidisziplinären Künstlers, Kurators, Gründers von de_colonialanguage und Absolventen des MA Raumstrategien an der Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin, Denis Esakov, in Zusammenarbeit mit KIEZ:MOBIL. Es fand vom 5. bis 7. Juni (Teil I) und vom 12. bis 14. Juni (Teil II) vor der Weißensee Kunsthochschule statt. Dialogue & Research Days was an experimental research-based project by artist, curator, founder of de_colonialanguage and Alumni MA Spatial Strategies at Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin, Denis Esakov, in collaboration with KIEZ:MOBIL. It took place from June 5 to 7 (PART I) and June 12 to 14 (PART II) in front of the Weißensee Academy of Art. art school.
From One Question to anOther (Von einer Frage zur Anderen) von Denis Esakov:
“Zwei Wochen lang hat die Plattform KIEZ:MOBIL Fragen gestellt. Das Parklet wurde auf der Straße vor dem Haupteingang der Kunsthochschule Weißensse aufgestellt. Die Fragen richteten sich an die Institution, die Nachbarn und die Studierenden mit dem Wunsch, einen Raum des Dialogs, des Austauschs und der Solidarität zu schaffen. For two weeks the KIEZ:MOBIL platform has been asking questions. Parklet was set up on the street in front of the main entrance of the Weißensse Academy of Art. Questions were for the institution, neighbors, and students with a desire to create a space of dialogue, exchange, and solidarity.
Ich habe letztes Jahr meinen Abschluss an dieser Akademie gemacht, und in den zwei Jahren, die ich bei Raumstrategien verbracht habe, hatte ich das Gefühl, dass die Akademie, die in einem ruhigen Viertel in Berlin liegt, die Position eines fliegenden außerirdischen Raumschiffs (UFO) einnimmt. Sie existiert ohne kontextuelle Verbindungen zu dem Raum, in dem sich die Akademie und die Hunderte von talentierten Künstlern dieser Schule physisch aufhalten. Dieses Gefühl wurde von meinen Kommilitonen und aktiven Bewohnern des Weißensse-Viertels, in dem sich die Schule befindet, bestätigt. Und darüber hinaus hat man das Gefühl, dass einige Abteilungen innerhalb der Institution in demselben Zustand des Mangels an Verbindung existieren. I graduated from this academy last year, and in my two years at Raumstrategien I’m left with the feeling that the academy, located in a quiet neighborhood in Berlin, occupies the position of a flying alien spaceship (UFO). It exists without contextual connections to the space in which the academy and the hundreds of talented artists of this school physically reside. This feeling was confirmed by my fellow students and active residents of the Weißensse neighborhood where the school is located. And furthermore, there is a sense that some departments within the institution exist in the same state of lack of connection.
Das Gespräch fand mit den Bewohnern, mit den Studenten, mit den Vögeln und den Bäumen statt, aber nicht mit der Institution. Aber es gibt immer noch eine Chance, am Rundgang im Juli teilzunehmen und einen Raum des Dialogs zu schaffen. Es gab mehrere Möglichkeiten des Dialogs – ich selbst war mehrmals am Tag auf dem Parklet anwesend und habe mich mit verschiedenen Leuten ausgetauscht. Und es gab auch eine Papierrolle mit der Möglichkeit, eine Spur zu hinterlassen. Beide Möglichkeiten wurden nachgefragt. Die Gesprächspartner schrieben zwei Rollen Papier aus (20 Meter!). Die Nachbarn kamen mit Fragen, Komplimenten, Wünschen und sogar Drohungen. Studenten kamen und teilten ihre Fragen, verletzlichen Geschichten, Unterstützung und Umarmungen mit. The conversation took place with the residents, with the students, with the birds and the trees, but not with the institution. But here is still a chance to take part in the Rundgang in July and still create a space of dialogue. There were several possible dialogue options – I myself was present several times a day at the parklet and exchanged thoughts with different people. And there was also a roll of paper with an opportunity to leave any trace. Both options were in demand. The conversation partners wrote out two rolls of paper (20 meters!). Neighbors came with questions, compliments, wishes, and even threats. Students came and shared their questions, vulnerable stories, support and hugs.
Ich habe als Gastautorin auf dem KIEZ:MOBIL [instagram]-Account ein Tagebuch über das Projekt geführt, die Notizen sind dort in den Guides oder einfach im Feed leicht zu sehen. I kept a diary of the project as a guest author in the KIEZ:MOBIL [instagram] account, the notes are easy to see there in the Guides or just in the feed.
Ich bin dem KIEZ:MOBIL-Team sehr dankbar für seine Unterstützung, Offenheit, Neugierde und Zusammenarbeit! Die Art und Weise, wie wir dieses Projekt gemeinsam erdacht und durchgeführt haben, ist unglaublich wertvoll und inspirierend. Denis Esakov präsentierte die im Rahmen der “Dialogue & Research Days” entwickelte Forschungsarbeit als Bestandteil der Installation “Where Was The Dialog? 2018 – 2023” (Wo war der Dialog? 2018 – 2023) in Zusammenarbeit mit der Künstlerin Selva Chaves Wagner. Diese Installation fand während des Rundgangs an der Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin (2023) statt. Denis Esakov presented the research-based work developed through “Dialogue & Research Days” as part of the installation “Where was the dialogue? 2018 – 2023“ presented at Rundgang at Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin (2023) in collaboration with artist Selva Chaves Wagner.
