What are the topics and objects that catch your interest in the PLACE? Why? How are you interacting with the place? How are people using the place? CITYMAKERS China – Germany´s WU Yimeng and Katja Hellkötter co-created a booklet – Reading the Traces of a Place 读书地方的痕迹 – as a tool for an alternative spatial cognition.
YANG Fan from NGO called CECP (China Endangered Culture Protectors) and Silvan Hagenbrock, urbanist and editor of CITYMAKERS, travelled together from Xi’an to Taiyuan tracing cultural relics (=wenwu) sites. Why go to all these places? Because there’s no other way for them to find evidence and to preserve knowledge of China’s cultural heritage destiny.
Why I am on the Road? I am tracing something. Something will be changed very soon. Something will disappear soon. Something will never come back. I am racing against the time. This is why I am driving fast. So, isn’t it a good reason to travel?
