’Green Cities for our Future’ is a video based training course on low-carbon and sustainable urban development in Germany. It contains 5 course units and was produced by CITYMAKERS in 2021 for the Sino-German Urbanisation Partnership, implemented by GIZ.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of city relations between Berlin and Beijing our CITYMAKERS-team developed a new framework for Sino-German twin cities to further learn and innovate for liveable city making.

We came up with the Winter Teahouse as a continuation of the succesful Summer Pop-Up Teahouse Event Series. Take a look at the program and join us on five cozy Friday afternoons and evenings for restful TEA TIMEs, art work inspirations, informal talks and enjoying a cup of tea together!

Frishteh ist vor einigen Jahren aus Afghanistan weggegangen. Sie ist gefangen zwischen einem ruhigen Leben in Berlin und dem unruhigen Leben in Kabul, in dem ihre Familie und ihre Freunde wohnen. Ein Film von der Theaterleiterin und Filmemacherin Frishteh Sadati in Kooperation mit der angehenden Filmeditorin Lin Xin.

Was liegt unter dem Volkspark Prenzlauer Berg vergraben und wie schnell kann ich diesen herunterrollen? Ein Film von der bildenden Künstlerin Eva Susanne Schmidhuber in Kooperation mit der Kiezgruppe von Joudi Abazid, Marwa Alnader, Lana Alkurdi, Greisa Demiri, Juana Hoxha, Lana u. Massa Kouli, Rabia Naghshbandi, Maria Safi, Marc-Antoine Carcéréri, Heiderose Häsler, Birgitta Wolf. Der Film ist in Zusammenarbeit mit der Gemeinschaftunterkunft Konrad-Wolf-Straße (Volkssolidarität) entstanden.

Musikalischer Spaziergang mit der OpernAkademie Berlin e.V,  in der Gustav-Adolf-Str. in Weißensee. Ein Film von Grafikdesigner und Kameramann Andrés Castoldi in Kooperation mit den Schüler*innen und Kursteilnehmer*innen der Opernakademie.

Was haben Haar und Styling mit dem Thema “Vielfalt” zu tun? Ein Film von der Filmpädagogin Maude Fornaro in Kooperation mit 3 Jungen aus dem Jugendclub Mahler 20 in Weißensee.

„Ich weiß nicht, was von mir erwartet wird. Das macht Chaos in meinem Kopf”. Ein Film des multimedialen Künstlers Jakob Joiko in Kooperation mit Baraa Kanaa.

The “Pop-Up Teahouse Berlin” was a special summer 2021 place making project created and hosted at C*SPACE Berlin. On six Saturdays between July and October the charming yard of the former furniture factory in the neighbourhood of Weissensee was transformed into an outdoor teahouse, that was not only a place for casual tea hangouts, informal transcultural dialogues and talks, but also a platform for design workshops as well for artistic performances at night. Mit Förderung des Fonds Soziokultur /Neustart Kultur präsentierte CITYMAKERS diesen Herbst in Berlin: “Vielfalt entdecken – Partizipative Video Walks”. Wir stellten die Fragen, “Was für interessante und vor allem vielfältige Geschichten von Menschen und Orten gibt es in unserem jeweiligen Kiez? Was macht Vielfalt aus?” 5 engagierte Künstler*innen und gesellschaftlichen Akteur*innen haben diese Fragen durch tolle filmische Stadtspaziergänge beantwortet und wir möchten sie hier zeigen!

Everything is always in flow 一切皆流 : When two artists from Beijing got stranded in Berlin, their creative energy fundamentally changed the face of the CITYMAKERS residence.

Is Berlin a „green” city? What projects, places and people are contributing to a sustainable future for the German capital? In the search for answers to these questions, filmmakers Kika Yang and Randolfe Camarotto,  set-out to produce a video walk. The project was a cooperation between CITYMAKERS and the Sino-German Urbanisation Partnership implemented by the GIZ.

The Network for Architecture Exchange (NAX) is an initiative of the Federal Chamber of German Architects, supporting German planners on their way abroad and promoting the brand ‘Architecture made in Germany’ worldwide. Together with CITYMAKERS China- Europe, NAX organised the Delegational Programm: NAX GOES CHINA.
